Purpose of the Alumni
We are a voluntary organization. Our purpose is simple: To bring the CPA graduates together to generate or enhance the relationship between the community and the Georgetown Police Department, and to assist and support the Georgetown Police Department in appropriate activities.
Our activities include the continuation of the Citizen Police Academy by recruiting enthusiastic and active members for the classes; increase community support for law enforcement; educate citizens about local law enforcement; provide continuing education programs for the Alumni Association and the public; and assist the Georgetown Police Department in civic oriented duties, and their programs, when citizen input or help is needed.
Who we are
This professional organization is comprised of a diverse group of amazing citizens with one common goal….we support our police! By experiencing the Citizen Police Academy, we have learned how difficult a police officer’s job is and it doesn’t end when they go home after their shift. We recognize the value and significance a professional law enforcement agency is to our community.
We are very proud of our police department and want to be a part of helping the men and women that keep us safe, stay grounded and positive.
What we do
Police officers are faced with personal and professional challenges on a daily basis. Some of these are hazards of their profession. We want our law enforcement to be at their optimal when they go on duty. After all, it could be one of us needing their assistance. If we can do that by sending a card for their birthday, hosting a department wide picnic for their families or purchasing a much needed piece of equipment that will make their jobs a little easier, then it’s worth it.
The GCPAAA is strictly a voluntary organization. We raise funds to assist the men and women who endure the challenges and pressures of modern policing with much needed equipment, resources for awards such as medals and plaques, honoring retired officers for their years of service, meals and treats throughout the year and especially during holidays when they cannot be with their families, and providing financial and other needed support for injured officers and their families.
The Georgetown Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association was formed in 2006. We are a Non-Profit Tax-Exempt 5013c Corporation – Donations are fully tax deductible as allowed by law.
